Aspects of Conformal Field Theory

Conformal Field Theories are central objects in our efforts to describe the physical world. From massless limits in Quantum Field Theories, critical points in Statistical and Condensed Matter Physics to Cosmological Perturbations, CFTs are omnipresent and regularly provide the starting points for more elaborate approximation methods. More recently, the AdS/CFT Correspondence has also emphasised the relevance of CFTs to String Theory, Quantum Gravity and Higher-Spin Gauge Theories.

This Workshop aims to bring together leading experts in some of the diverse research areas broadly defined as Conformal Field Theories. The emphasis will naturally be on some topics which have experienced  a remarkable progress recently such as bootstrap methods, Higher-Spin Holography, Integrability and Entanglement. We are hopeful that the Workshop will help fertilising further the exchange of ideas between the various research paths that have Conformal Field Theory as their common denominator.

The Workshop’s poster is here.

The Workshop will take place from Monday 21st to Friday 25th September 2015 at the premises of the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Centre.

The research project is co-financed by Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund  – ESF) within the framework of the NSRF 2007-2013 (Operational Program “Education and Lifelong Learning”- Call «EXCELLENCE II”)
